The Village of North Fond du Lac, to comply with State requirements, has adopted Illicit Discharge Rules as they apply to the village’s stormwater system.  In an attempt to avoid pollutants from entering area streams and lakes the village has the responsibility to control materials entering our stormwater system.

  • We regulate the contribution of pollutants to the municipal separate storm sewer system by stormwater discharges by any user.
  • We prohibit Illicit Connections and Discharges to the municipal separate storm sewer system, and
  • We have the legal authority to carry out all inspection, surveillance and monitoring procedures necessary to ensure compliance with the Stormwater Ordinance.

These rules are not to be confused with the existing rules governing Clearwater Connections into the sanitary sewer system.  For example, the rules prohibit dumping wash water into the sump pump and then pumping the wash water into a backyard or into the street.  This rule would also prohibit someone from disposing of oil, thinners or detergents by dumping them into a catch basin.
