A 24 year old Neenah man is in custody after police responded to a 911 call for a man with a gun in North Fond du Lac on Wednesday night. The man was arrested on charges of Trespass to a Dwelling, Disorderly Conduct, and Bailjumping. Police Chief Darren Pautsch says the investigation is ongoing and additional arrests are likely.

North Fond du Lac police were called to an address in the 400 block of Winnebago Street just before 9:30 PM. The caller reported that a black male had entered his house, displayed a black handgun, ran from the house on foot, and then fled in a waiting vehicle parked down the street. When officers arrived on scene, they discovered that the suspect’s vehicle had become disabled on the street in front of the address. Police conducted a high risk stop on the suspect vehicle and detained the three suspects without incident. A search of the vehicle resulted in locating and seizing a black Airsoft pistol. According to police, the gun was all black with no markings to make it easily distinguishable from a real firearm.

Police say the victim reported that he was asleep on the couch when he woke to the black male in his living room with a handgun. He told officers that he had never seen the man before and shouted at him, “What…are you doing in my house?” The resident told police that he went to retrieve his own gun when he heard the suspect leave out the back door. The resident said that he followed the suspect outside and got into his vehicle to go look for the guy. He observed him getting into a vehicle parked down the street with two women and followed them onto Winnebago Street where their car broke down.

After lengthy interviews with all three suspects, police learned that the resident had actually contacted the women through an ad on The women eventually told officers that they had agreed to meet the man for sex in exchange for money. The women said that they did not intend to actually have sex, but had hoped to distract the man and take his money. They told officers that the black male had come with them for “protection.”

Police Chief Darren Pautsch said, "It’s a dangerous game people play, and we’re glad no one was hurt in this incident. There are many known reports of people hooking up online, and being beaten, drugged, and robbed. You have no idea what you're walking into."
